About Layla
UPDATE 1/1-
I cannot believe Layla is still looking for her new home! She is such a beautiful girl and is desperate for a home she can call her own. Layla recently stayed in boarding for a week and we were surprised at how well she coped, she even made friends with the cattery manager! Layla would be best suited to an only cat household where all the attention can be focused on her! She is a low maintenance gal, who is happy to do her own thing and would make a great companion to someone that may have long work hours.
UPDATE 7/10 -
Sweet Layla has IMPROVED so much since my last update. She has become a much loved and adored member of my little family and she loves it! Layla has become much more confident - she was even letting strangers approach and pet her the other night and she has learnt to enjoy being petted. We are working on the cuddly lap-cat stage but I am confident she will get there.
This is little Miss Layla, she is a very special girl that is in need of a very special home. . . .
Layla's story - Layla had taken refuge in a family's shed and had just given birth to a litter for the third time (that they were aware of!). The family had assisted in the rehoming of Layla's kittens over the months but knew in order to stop the cycle, they had to get her desexed. They knew Layla and her babies were safe inside their shed so they supplied them with food and water as they attempted to gain her trust. She was a friendly girl, a little unsure, but they were able to approach her and as they started to get to know her, they knew she deserved to find a loving home. The family knew Layla's chances of finding a home at a pound or shelter were slim so they set out to find some help and this is how Layla came into care with one of her little babies, Leo.
When I first met Layla, she seemed so relaxed, but this all changed as she adjusted to her new life as a loved member of my extended fur-family. Living in a house, constantly having human company, being surrounded by other cats and getting used to new smells and sounds seemed to overwhelm Layla, but a month later, I am finally noticing some big improvements. I suspect she was somebody's pet once and was left behind to fend for herself. Humans had once betrayed her and now she needs to learn to trust them again.
Layla is quite a tiny girl, most likely due to the fact she began motherhood as kitten but as they say - big things come in small packages!
Layla's needs -
-Layla will need to be an indoor only cat for the rest of her life (unless you have a shaded outdoor enclosure for her to spend some time in!). Cats with pink ears and pink noses are at high risk of developing skin cancers.
-Layla will need to begin her new life in a quiet household, preferably with no young children. She needs to go to a family who understand her troubled past and who are willing to give her all the time, patience and love in the world so she can continue to shine and become a confident, trusting lady.
-Layla does not seem to mind the company of other cats, as long as they keep out of her way. The adult cats in my household keep to themselves and they don't seem to phase her.
-
Layla's behaviour is improving everyday and I have no doubts that she will continue to thrive! She is not a timid girl, she is a cat that has had an awful life and has some trust issues as a result of this.
Can you give Layla a chance and make her a part of your family? We look forward to hearing from you!
Medical notes
Layla goes to her new home desexed, microchipped, current in vaccinations and treated for worms and fleas. Layla has been tested for FIV and results were negative
