About Gretel (On Trial)
On trial in a new home 27/8/12. Please consider our other dogs and puppies at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au. . A vivacious little soul, with a gorgeous temperament, and massive smile. Gretel is a 6 month old female dachshund, who brings a smile to the face of everyone she meets. Very loving and active, this little girl, will have you in stitches with her playful antics. She is fantastic with children, they rate among her top people. She loves a snuggle on the couch, and just wants to follow you everywhere and anywhere. Another canine of a similar breed or size, would suit her, or an active family with kids to play with and this sweet little girl would be in heaven. . . ** note: gretel will only be allowed to go to home where there is another friendly dog to keep her company, as she doesn't like being alone. **
gretel needs a strict dietary routine, and to be watched or separated at meal times as she will scoff her own food and head for any other dog's bowls as well. As dachshund's can become overweight easily, it is essential she is only feed as much as she needs. She might be missing some hair from her face, but it's growing back, and when it does she will be even more beautiful. Gretel is getting better with toilet training, but like any puppy especially one in a new environment, she needs to be monitored and taken out regularly, as she is not the best at indicating her need to go out. She could learn to use a doggy door. . . Gretel loves to play tug a war, chase the ball, and is learning to play fetch. She is great on the lead, and gets really excited when she sees her harness, because it means she is going in the car or for a walk, both of which she loves. She loves the possibility of you taking her somewhere that could be new and exciting. Gretel is not much of a barker but does give warning barks when she does not know someone coming to your house. . . . Like any puppy gretel has lots of energy, wants all the attention she can get, and just loves to be with her family, be it human or canine or both. Gretel is great with cats, and very tolerant of them, if not curious. . . Gretel has a short coat, that sheds very little, and requires a warm place to sleep inside at night, and a coat after sunset on cooler days. Because of their short legs, dachshunds cannot be required to do long walks or runs, jumping, or lots of stairs. . . If you're looking for the perfect dog for your children, or want the perfect companion for another small dog, and you understand puppies, then this little girl is definitely worth your consideration; not only is she gorgeous but her temperament will have you enraptured. . .
