Maisy - Vaccinated and Desexed -On Hold

update: thanks to the generous donations from many lovely people, maisy has had her ear surgery, desexing, shave, and has completed her course of penicillin injections. This girl is just divine, throughout the entire time she has just been the most loving, beautiful and grateful pet imagineable, which makes you wonder how anyone could have let her get to such a stage of neglect. Sadly, the infection in her ears had reach the ear drum, so it is likely maisy will be deaf for life, however this does not affect her in the least. She is free from the pain, and can lead a completely normal life. Because maisy has been shaved, she has been living indoors at the rescue shelter, and we'd like to see this continue in her new home. She makes a fantastic house bunny, and we've even litter trained her. All she wants is to be near you and having fun, -things she deserves for the rest of her life. This girl will not be leaving us for anyone but the best of owners. Past description: maisy was rescued from death row, after she was found as a stray. Dumped, more likely. We don't often show animals until they've recovered, but maisy's story illustrates why we say, again and again, do not get a long haired rabbit (or any animal) when you can't devote the time to groom and properly care for them. This poor girl has been in this state for a long time, it did not happen overnight. There is just no excuse for letting any animal get this way. Maisy is currently at our vets, where she will be completely shaved and freed from all these matts. We also noticed straight away an abscess in her ear (and the vet had confirmed both are infected), so ear surgery is most likely, as well as penicillan injections until she has fully recovered. Her health is currently under assessment, incase there are more hidden ailments, while she's under the vets care. Please keep maisy in your thoughts. She is a lovely girl, who despite her condition, has only shown a great deal of love and trust for humans. Obviously maisy is not currently available for adoption, however we are happy to take expressions of interest until she is ready for her new home.
