About Scooby (On Trial)
On trial in a new home 22/7/12. Please consider our other dogs and puppies at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au particularly moe and bruizer. . . Scooby is a 2 yo border collie x. He is a very friendly, happy, affectionate, energetic boy. He's good with other dogs and with children. He likes his food and his favourite things to do are running and playing. He is good with children, but he does get a bit excited at times and jumps up so would need to be careful with small children until he is trained not to jump. Having said that, he does seem to be more gentle with children. He gets on well with dogs of all sizes and ages, he just wants to play. Little dogs sometimes can be intimidated by his size but if they bark at him he seems to cower away, we have never seen him show any aggression towards another dog. . . Being from working dog breeds, he is a clever boy and seems to pick up on things quickly. He is also very high energy so he needs a home where he will get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He would be suited to a home with an active family who will take him for a daily run or walk, or with another young dog of similar size to play with. A home with a large yard would be ideal or somewhere where he can be allowed off the lead safely to run around like a dog beach or dog park. . . Other than daily exercise needs, he is not a very demanding dog, he is not a barker, digger or a chewer. However because he is smart and active, if he didn't get the right amount of attention and exercise he may become bored which is why we will only allow him to go to a suitable home. . . He knows how to sit and stay, most times comes back when called and is also housetrained. He hasn't had much lead walking so this is something that needs working on but he will pick it up quickly with a bit more practice. Scooby seems to prefer sleeping outside but he loves to come inside and sit with us in the evening. He will stay quietly on his bed, but given half a chance he would be up on the lounge for cuddles, he's a real softie!. . Scooby is mostly border collie but appears to have a bit of another breed in him, possibly kelpie. He is medium sized: 23 kg. . . Scooby was sadly surrendered because his previous owners were moving to a smaller property and could no longer keep him. We fell in love with him straight away, he really is such a lovely dog with a beautiful nature and know that the right family will love him too. . . Dog rescue newcastle www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com.
