Maddy (On Trial)

Maddy is a lovely, gentle, 2. 5 year old pure bred shih tzu who's had a bad start. She needs a special person to give her the forever home she deserves. She is very timid and wary of strangers but once she gets to know and trust you she wants to be your friend. . . Marilyn (maddy for short) was raised in a puppy farm where she had lived her life in a cage in a shed. When the puppy farm was closed down she was “rescued”, along with 40 other dogs. Tragically, maddy ended up in a similar situation with another breeder. When rescued by dog rescue newcastle she was fostered in temporary accommodation before coming to us. All this trauma had its effect and it has taken us six months to gain her trust. Now maddy just loves to sit on brenda's lap, and this is a big achievement for her. Maddy, like all the dogs we have had from this puppy farm, is still a bit wary of males. . . Maddy is a good watchdog as she lets you know if someone is approaching your gate. She is house trained and learning to come when called. She has learnt to walk on a lead and now runs up to have her harness put on. Maddy is boisterous with other dogs we meet when walking but she especially loves ava, her soul mate from the same puppy farm. The two of them wrestle, play tug-of-war with rope toys and run until they flop down together and snooze. Maddy is now ready to take her next big step and go to her forever home. She will need someone with a lot of patience and time to gain her trust. Maddy would make an ideal companion for a quiet retired person as she is timid with children.
