Maddie

Maddie is an active 1 year old lab x kelpie with energy to burn! she came to her foster carer from mildura pound after being surrendered by her previous owners and had to cope with some big changes in her life over the next few months. She has now settled in well with her foster carer but is eagerly searching for a home to call her own. She has a sweet, loving and soft nature, and adores nothing more than a big long snuggle, but she is also good at taking a nap on her bed to let you get on with the things you have to do as long as you’re in her line of sight at all times. She is a lovely quiet girl, who only barks when there’s something really worth barking at. She doesn’t dig or jump fences, and despite loving a good bounce around when you get home every day, she is gentle with children. She can be left alone for periods of time during the day as her foster carer works full-time and has not had any problems. Maddie is not good with cats or other small animals. Perhaps the most important thing to understand about maddie is her limitless energy. She has kelpie blood and can run/bounce/fetch/play for hours without tiring. She really enjoys a run with other dogs down at the off-lead park but equally loves a brisk walk or jog around the neighborhood. She doesn’t need to be run for hours a day, but she does need to get out to stretch her legs at least once, every single day. She learns very fast and really loves a good training session with some tasty treats for encouragement. She knows sit, stay, drop, roll-over, shake, come and is currently being taught to play dead. She has good, if not 100% reliable recall, but this is something that is likely to improve with training and time. She is definitely a dog who lives to please her owner. She is very responsive to voice commands. So, if you’re part of an active, outdoorsy family, you have another dog or some kids who would love a new friend then you would be the perfect match for this young girl.
