Smokey - Adoption Pending

Smokey is a playful dog who has come a long way since coming to safe. He is learning basic manners and is turning into a calm but playful puppy. Just as he should be!

smokey is excellent with children but can sometimes bowl over the little ones because he is learning to be aware of his big body. He loves to be around children though, so would settle well into a family with children. He enjoys going for car rides and will sit in the car all day if you let him. He gets on well with other dogs but would happily be the only dog in the family. Smokey needs exercise and someone to play with him. Ideally, smokey would go to live in a home with a lot of outdoor space so he can run and play most of the day. He would also enjoy a home with people who understood his high energy breeding and gave him opportunities to learn new things and have a job to do each day. He would make a great agility or tracking dog. Smokey is very relaxed in the house and although he will happily drool all over the floor while watching you eat lunch, he is just as happy curled up in front of the fire or laying at your feet. Smokey is learning basic manners in his foster home and will need to continue this training if he is to become the ideal companion we know he can be. We will encourage the people who adopt smokey to attend training to help them better understand how to give this intelligent and clever dog everything he needs. We have access to dog trainers who are already working with smokey. Two subsidised training sessions will be included in the adoption fee.
