About Dexter
Dexter is a large cuddly bloodhound, about 18mths old. He is a big softie and really loves human company. He is great with older kids (10+) and other dogs. Dexter is looking for someone active and loves nothing more than hanging out with his human friends. He needs a daily walk on lead or a good run around the backyard with his owner playing fetch. Given dexter’s size and strength he needs someone to work with him on further training who can manage him and work with him calmly as he is a sensitive boy. When out walking, dexter can spook easily from loud and sudden noises and this can make him take off suddenly. Further support to desensitise dex from loud noises is also required. Dex has shown that after developing a bond with his human he responds really well to training and overall tries so hard to be a good boy. Dex has basic obedience training and can sit and drop but would greatly benefit from formal training also. He is well house trained, clean, and gentle and loves being indoors with his family. Dexter’s new family will need to happy having this big boy inside as he just loves being part of the family and sitting in the lounge room watching tv or sleeping at your feet. Dexters new home will need to be securely fenced, given his breed characteristics he can grab a scent quickly and if provided with an opportunity (an open gate or door) he will try and sneak through, but does not jump fences or dig. Dex is so affectionate and has a truly sweet and gentle nature, he is a big teddy bear and would love a family to call his own. This family would need to be dedicated to dex’s training to help him become a confident well trained hound
Medical notes
Dexter is a happy, healthy boy who is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated
