About Andie (On Trial)
On trial in a new home 3/5/12. Please consider our other dogs and puppies at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au particularly chester and maya. . . Andie is a 6yo purebred chinese crested dog, only 3kg. He loves cuddles and needs company. He loves to play and run around, and also being with you. He comes with his own lifejacket as he loves swimming! such a unique little character!. . Andie was surrendered to drn by his owners who could no longer keep him. They provided this information: andie is technically a hairless chinese crested (not a powder puff) - but he does grow hair on his back so he is not for the show ring. His has a bath using gentle dog shampoo and conditioner once a week. We have his birth certificate papers (born 18/8/2005). He has health insurance which you can continue this if you choose. He currently has no health issues. . . Because he is small and (relatively) hairless he does get quite cold so he wears jumpers or a coat in winter to go outside and inside after dark. He loves heat and he loves sunbaking but he tends not to know when he has had enough so we have to keep an eye on him so he doesn't overheat or get sunburnt. . . Andie has always been the baby of the house and has gone everywhere with us. He loves cuddles and will snuggle up to you all day if you let him! he will even sleep in your bed - but he takes up more room than he looks like he will so he has his own big bed which we tuck him into every night in our room. He loves to be with you (will follow you around) but also likes his own space - especially a spot in the sunshine! he has always liked to sit up high near your shoulders (like on the top of the couch, or actually on your shoulder) - he is a bit bizarre. He loves car rides and has done some very big trips without any fuss. He can sit, stay, lie down, go to bed, and come when you tell him to - but he likes to be addressed by name (like we have to say andie sit and not just sit - i don't know why but it is the only way it has ever worked). He likes other dogs in theory but he gets scared really easily and it doesn't work out well. . . His breed aren't supposed to be able to bark. Andie does sort of bark - it sounds like a bark. He also has a bit of a scream/yelp noise when he is scared. He can be quite target fixated if he is barking but you can stop it by distracting him. He is a little bit ocd and likes to eat on the carpet (maybe his feet get cold), he is not fond of wooden floors, but can get used to them, and is afraid of rain. Also this breed can climb, and andie really can, so if your fence is 'climbable' he will do it. Andie is small enough to get through small gaps so you're fence will need to be really good. He doesn't need a large yard, just a place outdoors where he can enjoy the sunshine. . . Andie's ideal home has secure fences, he will be inside most of the time and sleep inside, he will be the only dog, and someone is home much of the time and has time to pay attention to him and love him. If you can offer andie a loving home for the rest of his life, please contact his foster carer cheryl (phone number and email address below). They are in carey bay, nsw, (lake macquarie). . . *** please see more photos of andie at http://tinyurl.
