About Foster- Young, Blind Dog
We urgently need a foster for this lovely natured beautiful boy. He is young but is blind. He is good with other dogs best with females and has a lovely nature. Tommy loves humans, he loves being patted, and he will compete with any dog who gets in the way of a tummy rub?. So probably best that tommy is an only dog. He will love you to bits! he will sleep on your feet, sit at command, come when called and generally schmooze his way into your heart. He wags his tail all the time so even though he can’t see the world, he’s pretty sure it’s a great place to be, and that you are the best thing in it!
walks well off lead and responds to voice and clicker
commands he responds to “sit’ “wait” “slow” “come” (with 2 clicks) and “uh uh” (don’t go there you’ll bang into something or fall down a hill). No territorial barking. Happy to be left all day and sleeps in the laundry without fuss. Not particularly good on the lead. Halti is required. He is a confident dog and as he becomes familiar with his territory his confidence increases (this happens quite quickly) and he will try and dominate other dogs. He has lived reasonably well with my two girl dogs (who are smart and willing to put up with being run into). The best situation would be where he is the only dog as he adores humans and will go with anyone who pats him. He thinks he is boss of everyone and would need someone who recognises that he needs special assistance because of blindness but he still needs to know the boundaries for good behaviour. Can be reactive on lead, and around male dogs. If you can foster him please call natalie on 0408-779-023
