Rusty *On Trial in His New Home*

*rusty is currently trialling his new home* this little bundle of joy is rusty and he’s a 16 month old daschund x terrier so he’s a friendly, energetic little dog who’s looking for a new forever home – will it be with you???

recently surrendered to sarg for rehousing, as unfortunately his owners circumstances have changed; since he was a young puppy little rusty was used to having his owner around 24/7 plus the run of the house as a rather spoilt “only child” so now he’s in foster care where the first thing he’s been learning is how to be a dog! rusty’s getting along well with his carers own little dogs and is also terrific with a large bull arab x who’s about to head off to her forever home. He’s fantastic with his carer’s 3 children aged from 5 to 10 and loves running around in the yard with them or just hanging out. Rusty’s always up for a game of tug-o-war with a rope toy and he’s great when it comes to playing fetch – in fact the only time you ever hear rusty bark is when he gets excited during play time! clever rusty knows “sit” and comes when he’s called and he’s good on a lead and enjoys checking out the world around him though he could still do with some more training as he's only young. What rusty is best at is being a lapdog; two taps on your knee and he’s up for cuddles!!!! this affectionate little dog thrives on attention and can be quite sooky when he isn’t getting any, though he’s getting better and now stays outside with the other dogs when no one is home. Spunky rusty is quite low-maintenance only needing a short walk or a run around the backyard to use up his energy. He is housetrained and is used to sleeping inside at night (usually with the kids!) and he doesn’t shed much hair and will only require the occasional bath to keep his coat in tip-top condition. Secure fencing, chicken necks to chew on, toys to play with and lots of snuggles will make rusty very happy indeed!

as rusty loves being with his humans and can suffer a bit of separation anxiety if left alone for long periods of time he’d be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle with either a friendly doggie companion or someone who’ll be home fairly often especially during his settling in period.
