About Wes (adopted 27/10/12)
Wes is a 14 month old staffy x terrier who loves to be close and never refuses a cuddle. Small to medium size, solid and strong, approx. 12 kgs.
He is a cuddle pup and also a rough and tumble pup. He just needs a chance to become the best he can be, then we believe will be a wonderful companion to the person/s who has time and energy for him. Wes is equally happy out running and playing in the yard as he is curled up at your feet, on your lap or just somewhere nearby.
Wes has previously lived in a number of homes, however does not seem to have been socialized very much or very well. He is very wary of the big outside world, and he is on alert constantly and because of this he demonstrates some fear based aggression towards other dogs at times, while out on his walks. We are working on this with him and recommend he be rehomed with an experienced dog person (or people).
Wes is walked every day on a lead and practices his training. He can be food motivated and responds very well to one on one attention that is training focused with some play. Wes is constantly demonstrating to us that he can learn to get over being fearful of other dogs. Proving this, he is currently living with 2 other well balanced dogs. It took a little argy bargy, and he still shows signs of domination but without aggression with his doggie foster brother and sister. They seem to shrug him off and get on with play time. He plays well with them and has fun at home. In fact they all get up to lots of (normal doggy) mischief together, then curl up with each other for a sleep.
Wes sleeps inside and loves to be part of the family, he uses a doggie door, and he sometimes gets a little pushy for affection just because he thinks he will be left out again. He has been with children before and seems to be still quite interested in being with them, on walks. When wes has encountered children (particularly adolescents) he seems to perk up and become very curious and less wary; he is not currently with children in our home.
As his foster carers we would really love to see this little man go to a good home. We are becoming quite fond of him. He deserves to be well cared for and trained.
Wes is in foster care in Killarney Vale on the central coast of nsw. For more information or to meet Wes please phone Kip on 0414 230 362 or email kkear@bigpond.net.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile. They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID to prove you live there.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
