About Tara
Meet tara! tara is a lively 8yo staffy x with so much love in her heart. Tara has plenty of energy and many years left to give her family lots of joy, she is super fast and loves playing fetch and jumping to catch balls, which has provided hours of entertainment for my 8yo brother. . Tara loves long walks so would be fantastic as a fitness buddy, she just keeps going and going! but than settles well once you are home. She has motivated me into a longer walk many times. Tara is a great guard dog, she likes to bark to let you know that someone is arriving at the door. She is very loyal and will stay by her new human's side for life. She is good with kids, but she hasn't been exposed to cats so we are not sure there. Tara is happiest indoors but happy outdoors, if she knows you're safe, she goes well in the car too. Tara would love a home where she is the only dog as she can be possessive of her family and occasionally, not liking to share them with other dogs. She is now playing beautifully with our dog. If you are looking for a loving, loyal and protective best friend she is for you! i am going to miss her dearly. Good luck tara girl!
Medical notes
Tara has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped. Tara has been flea and worm controlled
Adoption details
Once the animal is advertised candidates for adoption are requested to fill in a form.
The adoption questionnaire form asks where the animal will sleep, details of people and other animals in the home, training and exercise plans etc. We use this form as part of our screening process.
If we like what we read and the animal’s individual needs are met we then conduct an informal phone interview.
Then the potential adopter meets the animal at the carers home or the carer may choose to take the animal to the adopter’s home to do a house and yard inspection.
If the adopter meets the animal at the carer’s home a house/yard inspection is done after the meet.
When the yard inspection is done we are able to further evaluate the suitability of the candidate to adopt.
If we are satisfied that the animals needs will be met by the adopter and that they are a good match for one another then a trial period may begin.
We have legally binding pre-adoption forms which allow us to remove the animal from the home if all other solutions to issues have failed.
We have a good support base which adopters can utilise if needed, such as a professional trainer, a behaviourist, vets and a groomer.
Homeless Hounds offers support to our adopters for the life of the animal. It is policy that each adopter is aware that if the ever need help or to rehome the animal then HH wants to facilitate that.
Our procedures are based on advice from "model" and well established rescue groups and trial and error.
