About Stripes
Stripes is a very special rescue kitten. Even people who do not normally fall under the "cat person" category have fallen in love and given this boy a second chance. He initially entered the vet clinic as a very, very sick kitten, and was destined for euthanasia, but has been able to make a full recovery despite all the odds against him. This is only due to the wonderful vet staff who pulled him through. Stripes needs a special home where they understand the meaning of responsible pet ownership. This includes the fact that stripes will always be an indoor cat, not only to protect the native wildlife, but for his own safety. In a safe environment, he should never be at risk of cat fights, getting run over by cars, etc. If you wish to enquire further, or seek a time to meet stripes, please fill in an adoption form at our website: www. Porschesrescue. Com
Medical notes
He came to the clinic as a stray. Very sick little stray with cat flu. Specifically fvr, feline viral rhinotracheitis. For this reason he needs to go to an only cat home. These cats recover from the virus, but the virions remain dormant in their system for the rest of their lives in their sensory neurons. His was localised to his upper resp tract, with no damage caused to his eyes which is great. These cats are asymptomatic, but may intermitently shed virions throughout their life. Apparently about 75% of cats in the world have this anyway (even without original clinical infection), and are asymptomatic and shedding. But in the name of responsible pet rehoming, he really should go to a 1 cat home. A small fortune has been spent on getting him to recover from the fvr. He arrived as an 8week old baby, basically dead. He has had the worlds longest course of antibiotics, in addition to antivirals and lysine supplementation. He may have the intermittent sneeze throughout his life, but he should be fine from now on
