About Burton - Special Needs
**update**
i do understand how gorgeous burton is and no doubt there are many people who would love to give him a home but i must ask that you read his profile before making an enquiry. Burton is a special boy who needs a special home and simply loving his breeding/the way he looks and 'wanting' him just isn't enough. I don't mean to be blunt, but i have received so many enquiries from people wanting to adopt him because they 'want him' not because they can/want to provide him with the home that he needs. Burton requires a home that understands that he has suffered trauma in the past and as a result has trust issues, that while he's made great progress with, still need work. It will take burton time to settle in a new home and to become comfortable with new people. He is not a lap cat and probably never will be, he doesn't like being picked up/carried around and his affection is given only when he's completely comfortable with someone. Applications will only be considered from people who want to help to enhance his life, not those who just want him to enhance theirs or babysit their existing cat/s. Yes, burton needs a home with at least one other cat, but merely having another cat is not going to be enough to help him settle in a home, he needs time, patience, understanding and acceptance. Again, i apologise for being harsh/blunt, but as always the most important thing is the welfare of the animals and with many others in care, i simply don't have the time to deal with a stream of enquiries from people who merely looked at burton's photos. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
burton was surrendered as a kitten with his brother and mother about 10 months ago. All three had clearly had a very hard life and were terrified of people. Burton's mum was able to be rehomed a few months ago, but his brother has made little progress with his fear of people. Burton has come a long way and has been confident enough to start looking for a new home for a while now, but i was reluctant to separate him from his brother as they are very close and i wasn't sure his brother would cope. I recently took in another very fearful cat who has bonded with burton's brother and i now feel that it's in burton's best interests to find a home of his own, rather than waiting indefinitely for his brother to be ready. Burton will need a very specific kind of home which is why i have listed him as 'special needs'. He has no medical issues. Burton needs an indoor only, adult home (no children) with at least one other cat friendly cat, as he loves the company of other cats and would be lost without it. He is fine with cat friendly dogs too. Burton's ideal home would be with a single person or couple who have an existing cat/cats that craves the company of other cats. Now i realise i haven't made him sound like much of a catch so far, but i can assure you that once settled in the right home, burton will make the most amazing pet! he's affectionate, playful, cheeky and has many traits of the burmese, including his love of a good chat!
there is something very special about burton, as anyone who has met him would tell you, he just needs someone that is willing to commit to helping him settle in his new home, and in return they will have a stunning, happy, playful addition to their family!
Medical notes
Burton goes to his new home wormed, flea treated, desexed, microchipped and current in vaccinations
