About Rusty (On Trial)
On trial in a new home 27/1/12. Please consider our other dogs at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au particularly turbo. . . Rusty is a beautiful 2 year old male cattle dog x staffy. His bio has been provided by the renbury farm animal shelter volunteer who fell under his spell whilst still in the pound. . "i first met rusty when i photographed him at renbury farm animal shelter about 4 weeks ago. He was so timid at the time, but i sat with him and after 5 minutes or so, he quietly came close enough for me to pat him, another 5 minutes and we were cuddling each other! i knew he was a very special dog and i had a mission to get him rescued. This was achieved thankfully and as part of my plea, i offered transport and temporary foster care… so i was elated to go out and bring him home. Rusty spent 10 nights in our home, and was an absolute pleasure. . . He bonded quickly with our three dogs (border collie x 11yo female, jrt 5yo female, and mini cattle x 2yo female). Rusty is quite submissive and built his confidence up whilst in our care. He is fully toilet-trained and is very well behaved indoors and slept indoors during his stay. Rusty played constantly with our three dogs, so i would love him to find a home with another dog as a companion. . . He is a very healthy dog, with amazingly white teeth and clear eyes. He walks well on a lead and we are also fortunate to have a secure off-leash park in our area, so we took him there each day and he loves to run and chase the ball, which he does bring back. He also jumps high for the ball, which to me indicates he could be a great agility dog. . . We also took him to the beach, which i believe was a first time experience for him, … he backed away when a wave rolled up on the sand… but he loved running along the sand and taking in all the sea smells. He also enjoyed burying his nose in the sand, however we didn’t get to take him for a swim, but going by his love of the kiddie pool in the dog park (he puts his face in the water and blows bubbles with his nose), he will take to water like a duck. . . He also got to spend some time with my young nephews (4yo & 7yo) and was very gentle with them… kid & dog friendly! \ however, he has not yet been tested with cats or birds. Rusty travels well in the car, and has learned to sit whilst in our care. He is a quick learner and listens intently to instruction and just wants to please. I’ve only seen him bark once, and that was at the dog park when a man came to the gate to talk to me… he had sunglasses and long dreadlocks and i think rusty didn’t know what to make of this guy! ! !
once you look into rusty’s eyes, you can’t help but fall for this amazing dog. If you commit to giving rusty a wonderful forever home, you will be rewarded with unconditional love and companionship. . . "
