About Candy
This is candy, she's about a year old and has been in rescue since december last year - i have no idea why she's been passed over for so long!what can i say about her. . . I think the first thing that hits you with candy is her expressions, she has the biggest, most person-like grin on her face - instant love! she also knows how to properly wrap her paws around you and give hugs, which she does often. She likes to crawl into your lap and be cradled like a baby - try and resist when she puts it on, just try!lovely as she is, candy isn't for everyone and you really need to know what you're looking for from a dog before you look at candy. She'd make a great family dog given time but she's not for complete dog beginners, i wouldn't be comfortable rehoming her to someone that wasn't able to read dog behaviour/body language. By her nature she is sensitive and timid of new people/animals/situations. Make no mistake she'd jump through fire, swim shark infested waters. . . Or simply leap from great heights :s to get to her human but generally speaking, she's a big bloody goose of a scaredy cat dog!! i've spent a lot of time getting her socialised to new dogs and people, and she has made massive progress, but she needs a home that could continue that work. As far as general obedience goes, she's good at sit, she can drop. . . But she'd rather flop in your lap or lick your face, 'stay' is not even remotely in her vocabulary. . . Unless you mean 'stay with me'. I have no problems walking her off lead in parks/at the beach etc. . I wouldn't do it near a road though, she gets a fright easily when dogs charge fences or if a leaf rustles particularly menacingly and would end up in the traffic. Did i mention candy was an inside dog? if it were up to her i'd write that she demands you never leave the house and divide your time between laying in bed with her and playing at the dog park. However, as i have to point out to her every morning - that's not really an option, and she's begrudgingly ok with that. I work full time, long hours and she is happy to entertain herself in the back yard all day (that took a week or so though, be prepared to reinforce your fence!). So long as when you are home, you are together, she'll be happy. Is she good with other dogs? that depends on the other dog, usually she's great, but she can be scared and she can be moleish. . . It's a case by case basis. Could she live with another dog? in some ways i think she'd really like that, but her 'thing' is that she wants to be a one person dog. So if she could have her one family member and live with a friend to play with that'd be great. . . But if it was just you and 2 dogs i think the green eyed monster would get her into trouble. Any negatives? - well, she always tries to lay on my laptop when i'm facebooking! oh and she acts like she's going to curl up and sleep neatly on the end of the bed as i'm getting ready, but the second i flick the light off she races me to my pillow to steal it!! she's like 20kg of dog, yet she'll try her very best to take up nine tenths of a queen sized bed!! - as you can see, she's a bloody menace lol but i guarantee you'll love her anyway! :d
Medical notes
Candy does get tender around the eyes if allowed to run around in long grass. It's just as a result of that pink skin
