Jerry *On Trial in His New Home*

*jerry is currently trialling his new home* meet jerry the pup that grew and grew and grew until he was too big for the yard and for his family’s little children so he’s now looking for a more suitable forever home!

jerry was adopted from our local pound as a tiny little pup who was too sick with kennel cough to be desexed until he’d received treatment and lots of tlc. He was supposed to be a labrador x “something small” though it wasn’t until about 9 months of age, as a gangly teenager, they realised jerry might actually be a great dane x which we all agree he is; with a little bit of labrador thrown in for good luck! at just under 39kgs jerry is a perfect weight for his size according to our vets. He’s a friendly, affectionate \ young dog who’s a bit of a goofball and loves nothing more than rolling over for a belly rub after a good play!

jerry knows “sit” and would love to learn some more commands though he will need some training when it comes to walking on a lead as he hasn’t had much practice at this. He doesn’t wander far from you when off lead and knows his name and comes to a whistle. He does get excited when he first sees you and he jumps but its more around you than on you hence why he needs to be rehoused with an older family so the little kids he lived with can still use their yard without being bowled over by jerry who’s still quite puppyish. Jerry is playful with other dogs and is currently residing with an older male labrador who he gets along well with. He likes to chase cats from the backyard so they’re probably not such a good idea as a housemate. . . Jerry would be best suited to an indoor / outdoor lifestyle where he can be included in the household goings on either with either a doggie companion or on his own as long as he’s not left alone for long periods of time especially while he’s settling into his new home. Daily walks, secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to keep him stimulated would make jerry a very happy boy!
