Duke *On Trial*

*duke is currently trialling his new home* we’re gobsmacked that lovely boy duke, who’s approximately 2 years old, wasn’t collected by his owner when he ended up in our local pound so we had to step in and save this happy-go-lucky dog!!! now duke is looking for a forever home where he’ll be loved and cherished and not have to worry about ever being left behind in a pound again…. . Duke’s a very affectionate dog who likes to be with you and is eager to take on all life has to offer. He is friendly and loves cuddles and any type of attention. Duke doesn’t appear to have had much formal training though he is learning to “sit” and he’s discovered the joys of a game of “fetch” and almost gives the ball back when you ask him to “drop it” - a little bit more practice says his carer and this bright boy will get the hang of it! he adores humans of all shapes and sizes and he gets along well with other even enjoying some play time with his carer’s mum’s border collie. Duke walks fairly well on a lead and is getting more practice at this. We’re not sure how he is with cats though when he sees one while out walking he wants to chase it so we’ll need to test him further with this. Overall duke’s a really cute dog with a lovely temperament!

being a shih tzu x terrier blend duke doesn’t shed much hair though he’ll require a good brush once a week and a clip a few times a year as required. At just over 11kgs duke isn’t a tiny, little dog he’s more in the small to medium range. Secure fencing, bones to chew on and toys to play with will make adorable duke very happy indeed!

as he is housetrained duke would benefit from an inside / outside lifestyle with either a doggie friend for companionship or where he won’t be left alone for long periods of time especially during his settling in period.
