About Caramel -Desexed and Vaccinated -On Hold
*** on hold - i'm trying a new home! ***
meet caramel, one of the most special bunnies to have come to our rescue! his story begins several weeks ago, with lola (his mother) who was found hopping along a busy highway by some kind people. After calling all the pounds and councils, who were full and said they would have to euthanase her as they had no room, they contacted us and we agreed to hold her for her impound days. A day after arriving, lola's pot-belly produced eight little babies, one of which was caramel. Poor lola was very malnourished. After having her babies, she had no more nutrition to spare and didn't have a drop of milk. Sadly this meant the babies didn't get any colostrum, something which is vital to protect them while they build their own immunity to diseases. With regret, we had to intervene in order to give these babies a chance at survival. The odds were stacked against them, and even though we suspected that all our efforts would be in vain, we continued to work very hard. Some of the babies passed away in their sleep, with no obvious reasons as to why they died. After a couple of weeks, the remaining babies got very sick. They were so fragile and had to be given minute amounts of medicine. We lost all of them. . . Except caramel who was a real little fighter. At six weeks he was the scrawniest and most sickly looking bunny imagineable, whereas he should have been in the cutest and fluffiest phase of his life. He is now around 10-11 weeks and in perfect health, having conquered the battle of his life. After being lovingly hand reared in a home environment, caramel associates with humans and is an extremely affectionate, confident, playful and active boy. He has been taken to the park and doesn't stray from his family, is happy to meet new people and isn't the least shy. He gets along very well with other animals, like guinea pigs, and is starting to learn about the litter tray. It is with great sadness that we must list caramel, however it is time that potential homes be interviewed. He will not be available for at least another month or two, but in that time we are sure we will find a family that will love him as much as we all do at the shelter. Caramel will not be available to anyone but the very best, and that means someone who has lots of time to spend with him, where he will live indoors and be spoilt. Caramel will be desexed and vaccinated prior to leaving, and this is included in the adoption fee. Please note that caramel will grow into a large bunny. He also has the largest ears that are totally not in proportion to his body. . . Definitely taking after his mum lola. We think there is quite a lot of flemish giant in his breed. Better photos to come (he doesn't like to sit still for long, and is much cuter in real life!)
a big thankyou goes to kristina v. And her family, to whom caramel owes his life. If you would like to express your interest in adopting caramel, please fill in an adoption form at our website: www. Porschesrescue. Com
Medical notes
Vaccinated -please note that due to the release of calici virus, all bunnies adopted from us will be vaccinated. Desexing normally costs anywhere from $100-$360. Vaccinations are from $40-80 (costs differ between vet clinics). Therefore please don't try to haggle the price of the animal for adoption. If you can't afford the adoption fee, you certainly wont afford the ongoing costs associated with animals
