About Hippo
Introducing Hippo!
Hippo is a handsome Staffy x born approx 8th September 2025.
This sweet boy was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray and sadly no one came looking for him.
Since being at the facility this gorgeous fella has been a complete goofball & we love him dearly. He's very energetic, very smart, LOVES his toys (especially a plastic green bone & squeaky toys), he's highly food motivated, he's affectionate and desperate for a family to call his own.
We've seen signs of Hippo being a bit of a velcro dog and would love to be with his humans as much as possible. To the point where he tried climbing in the lap of his photographer as they crouched down near him.. he also brought his green bone toy as an offering. He also does a little happy dance when he gets a really good back scratch.
Hippo will need an owner who understands that he's a young, smart, active dog and is willing to work his mind as well as his body.
Hippo tested quite well with other dogs. He was happy & relaxed while interacting with other friendly dogs, however he did show signs of reactivity retaliation towards a highly reactive & dog aggressive dog. We believe Hippo could be suitable to live with another friendly dog or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Unfortunately Hippo has shown signs of prey drive, so he will need a home with no small animals like cats, chickens & rabbits.
Hippo has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Hippo would love to be adopted to a home where he is included in your daily activities and is treated as a cherished member of the family.
If you think you could be that furever family for Hippo, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
Hippo's adoption fee is $600, and this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Hippo is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Hippo is currently located in East Maitland.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
