Species: Eclectus Parrot
Age: Approximately 10 years old
Gender: Female
Location: Smithfield Plains SA
We are seeking a very special, experienced home for Rosie, a female Eclectus who is looking for a fresh start and someone who can give her the patience, understanding and love she deserves.
Rosie has unfortunately had a difficult past, and due to previous mistreatment, she can display aggressive behaviours. She must be housed as a single bird, with no other birds in the household. She is also not suitable for a home with children.
However, Rosie isnβt a bad bird. Beneath her behavioural challenges is a girl who, I believe, desperately wants to feel like a cherished member of a family again. She has learnt to speak, which suggests she once had a close relationship with a family, and I would love to see her given the opportunity to build that trust again.
Medical History
Rosie has visited Unusual Pet Vets multiple times over the past 12 months due to ongoing feather-related issues. Unfortunately, despite investigations and attempts to address the problem, there hasnβt been a successful resolution. She now attends her regular vet for six-monthly health checks.
What Rosie Needs in Her New Home
Rosie needs an experienced bird owner, ideally someone who has worked with parrots displaying behavioural challenges. She will need someone who understands that trust cannot be rushed and who is prepared to give her the time and space to settle at her own pace.
Her new home must understand and follow appropriate parrot care standards, including:
* No rust anywhere in her environment or cage.
* No candles, air fresheners or chemical fragrances.
* No rope, mirror or bell toys.
* A balanced diet consisting of appropriate pellets, soaked seed, fresh fruit and vegetables.
* Plenty of enrichment, patience and opportunities to build confidence.
Why Is Rosie Being Rehomed?
Unfortunately, her current ownerβs personal circumstances have become increasingly difficult due to financial and mental health struggles. This decision hasnβt been made lightly, but finding Rosie a home that can meet her needs and give her the attention she deserves is the priority.
Important Requirements:
* No other birds.
* No children.
* Experienced parrot owner preferred.
* Someone understanding of behavioural issues and willing to work patiently with Rosie.
* A lifelong commitment to her welfare.
Rosie deserves more than simply somewhere to live. She deserves a home where she feels safe, understood and valued. β€οΈ
Please only enquire if you genuinely understand the commitment involved in taking on a parrot with behavioural challenges.
