About Rusty and Max
⚠️ Assisted rehoming 🏡
🐾 Meet Rusty & Max – A Bonded Pair Looking for Their Forever Home! 💙
These two gorgeous boys are best friends and would love to find a forever home together. They have different personalities, but complement each other beautifully!
💙 RUSTY – 5-year-old Pointer × Bull Arab
Rusty is a clever, playful boy with a big personality and an absolute obsession with playing ball! 🎾 He loves chasing and retrieving his ball and will often bring a toy to new people as his way of making friends.
He's intelligent, eager to please and quick to learn. He knows sit, shake, lie down, back, outside, in your bed and up, responds to hand signals and has good recall.
Rusty enjoys walks, runs, exploring and sniffing his surroundings, but he's also quite the couch potato and is happy snoozing beside you while you work or relax.
He can be nervous around some loud noises and prefers other dogs to give him personal space when out walking. He may bark back if another dog is overly excited or reactive. He's also quite vocal when alerting you to something.
Rusty lives happily with cats and loves Max's company. He does have a strong chase instinct towards moving things, particularly lizards, so supervision outside is important.
💙 MAX – 4-year-old Staffy × Bull Arab
Max is a gentle, affectionate boy with a playful side and a slightly more cautious nature. He absolutely adores his big brother Rusty and often follows his lead, although he's also comfortable spending time independently.
Max enjoys walks, beach adventures, exploring and having a good rough-and-tumble play with Rusty. He's not quite as enthusiastic about running as his brother, preferring to take things at his own pace. He also has occasional zoomies and even sings a little when he knows a walk is coming! 🥰
He's a clever boy who learns quickly and has picked up many things by watching Rusty. He can be a little jumpy or reserved when startled by sudden noises, so a calm, reassuring home will help him feel secure.
Max is generally relaxed around other dogs and enjoys having familiar company around him.
🏡 THEIR FOREVER HOME
Rusty and Max are looking for a loving home together where they can continue sharing their adventures and enjoying life side by side.
They would suit a family who:
Has room for two larger dogs and can provide regular walks, playtime and exercise.
Understands Rusty's enthusiasm for ball games and Max's more relaxed approach.
Can offer patience and reassurance when Max is startled or Rusty encounters things that make him nervous.
Enjoys having their dogs involved in family life, while also appreciating a couple of happy couch potatoes!
Both boys are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with their preventative treatments. They are healthy with no ongoing medical issues. Rusty did have a toe injury as a puppy resulting in the removal of one digit, but this has no impact on his normal activity.
🐈 Good to know: Both boys have lived with cats.
Rusty and Max have so much love and companionship to offer. They don't need to be separated to find happiness – they already have their best friend. We're hoping to find someone willing to open their heart and home to both boys and give them the forever family they deserve. ❤️
⚠️ Assisted rehoming 🏡
This is an assisted rehoming which means that Animals In Need Brisbane (AINB) will advertise, contact applicants and pass on applications that meet the the criteria to the owner who will make the final decision on the rehoming of the animal. AINB may also be requested to undertake an inspection of the successful applicants property to confirm safety and suitability.
There is no adoption fee for assisted rehomings but we do ask for a donation (amount of their choosing) from the successful applicant to AINB, in recognition of the administrative and time costs incurred..
👉🏼 Please ensure you include all relevant information in your application, including fencing, other pets, children and ages etc. or we may not be able to pass on your application.
Medical notes
When he was a puppy, Rusty broke a toe and needed to have one digit removed. This has not affected his ability to run, walk, play or enjoy a normal, active life. He's a strong, healthy boy who continues to enjoy all the things you'd expect a dog his age to love.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
