Meet Axel!

Axel is a 1 year old German Shepherd x Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who is looking for a second chance at finding his forever home.

Axel is a vibrant, intelligent and goofy young guy with lots of energy to burn. Ideally, he would like to go to a home with a backyard, and someone that's happy to let him join you on all your adventures; think walks along the beach, hikes, coffee runs and anywhere else he can be by your side. This lovely boy thrives on human interaction, and at the end of a busy day he would love nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch and attempt to be a lap dog.

Axel will need to go to a home where everyone is secondary school-aged and older. Being an energetic 40kg dog, he can get quite jumpy when he's excited and could be too boisterous for younger children. He may be suitable to go to a home with another dog, however they will need to have a meet and greet at the shelter first to ensure it's a good match.

Axel is incredibly clever, and will benefit from ongoing force-free training to build up his repatoire of tricks, keep his mind active and build trust with his new family. He already knows how to sit on cue, and will happily work for treats, so we think he will take to learning new commands like a duck to water.

*Please note: we cannot facilitate holds. If you have any household members under 18, or another dog, they will need to be present at the shelter for a meet and greet.
