Meet Billy
A foodie who firmly believes that the way to his heart is through his stomach!
Billy is a sweet, cheeky fellow who loves plenty of things in life - toys, pats, people and a good bit of attention - but there's one thing he loves more than absolutely anything else. FOOD. Billy isn't particularly fussy either. If it's edible, he's interested, and if you're holding it, congratulations, you've just become his favourite person! He's a clever boy who knows how to sit and is more than happy to put those skills to good use when there's a snack involved. He's also an affectionate little character who enjoys spending time with his people and having a play with his toys. While he can be a little unsure initially, he warms up quickly and has a lovely, gentle side once he's comfortable. He's got the appetite of a champion, the enthusiasm of a puppy and absolutely no intention of ever missing a meal!
Underneath Billy's food-loving enthusiasm is a sensitive boy who's still learning to navigate the big, wide world. Unexpected surprises can give him a fright, and while he's curious about other dogs, he can become overwhelmed when they try to interact with him. For now, Billy would be happiest as the only dog, with a family who can help him build confidence through gentle, positive experiences. He's best suited to a home with children aged 10 years and over, particularly because his enthusiasm for food means everyone will need to be mindful when offering treats or feeding him. Calm, supervised treat-giving and a little personal space around mealtimes will help keep everyone comfortable. Billy would love a family who can continue his training, provide plenty of enrichment and help him discover that the world isn't quite so scary after all. And while Billy might initially fall in love with you for what's in your treat pouch, we reckon it won't take long before he decides the person holding it is pretty wonderful too!

Post Adoption Life:
With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
