About Daisy
Little Daisy had a long road to becoming a KPR kid, but we never gave up on her.
Over the last year or so, I received countless calls from her former owner, most of the time quite annoyed, wanting to surrender Daisy to us.
Unfortunately, every time we made arrangements, she changed her mind at the last minute.
Each time, Daisy was described as an incessant barker, aggressive, uncontrollable and completely untrainable yet each time we agreed to take her, the owner reneged.
We knew from the phone calls that Daisy was not improving. In fact, she seemed to be getting worse. Her owner was elderly, and we know just how easily things can go wrong and when she finally agreed to surrender her, we knew that it wasn’t a minute too soon.
When our volunteer arrived, Daisy actually bit her owner in front of them. Daisy did not want to be touched or handled by her owner at all. Just trying to get her into the travel crate was an ordeal for everyone and we were quite concerned that, at just 2 years old, Daisy already had some serious issues.
When she initially came into our care, Daisy was extremely stressed. We allowed her the time to decompress before any training or handling could begin. As the weeks passed, Daisy let down her guard and started to become a curious, confident pup who LOVES food and human affection.
Daisy does a bouncy, happy dance at meal times. She is house trained and affectionate. She is happy to sleep on the couch at night and her absolute favourite treat is a chicken frame. Daisy will roll over for a belly rub as soon as a human approaches her, she has the waggiest tail around her people and she loves to play with her doggie friends.
Daisy has shown absolutely no aggression since she came into care, but we would be most comfortable placing her with an experienced dog owner who can understand her past. She is great with other dogs but will bark at cats, so a cat free home is best. Due to her past, Daisy will not be placed in a home with young children or where they are regular visitors.
Whilst Daisy is looking for a particular home, we believe that she will continue to thrive in the right one and we are in no hurry to move her if it isn’t in her best interest. She will bond very strongly to her new human so someone who is home most of the time would be ideal.
Daisy is located in Kingaroy QLD.
