About Beans
Beans is the kind of cat who will hold your hand while you watch TV together. Yes, really. This sweet little gentleman has a habit of stretching out his paws to touch his favourite people, and once you've earned his trust, he's quite the affectionate little shadow!
But Beans wasn't always this confident.
When he first arrived at our shelter as a stray, he was absolutely terrified. Everything felt overwhelming, and he spent much of his time hiding away, unsure whether people could be trusted. Thankfully, a wonderful foster home gave him the chance to discover that life with humans could actually be pretty lovely.
And it turns out, Beans is a bit of a cuddle enthusiast!
Once he feels safe, he'll happily climb into your lap or curl up on your chest, purring away while enjoying his favourite chin scratches. His foster carers discovered that he absolutely loves watching Cat TV, particularly videos of fish and birds, preferably with someone nearby to cuddle. He's also quite fond of a few gentle butt pats!
Beans does have a funny little routine. During the day, he's often happiest tucked away in his cosy hiding spot, although some gentle chin rubs can encourage him to come out for affection.
But when evening arrives? It's Beans o'clock!
Suddenly, this shy little boy becomes a playful explorer! He loves chasing ribbons and wand toys, sometimes leaping into the air to catch them. He also enjoys climbing his cat tree and watching the world through the window. Apparently, nighttime is when all the interesting things happen!
Beans is still building his confidence, particularly around unfamiliar people and loud noises. He'd do best in a calm, adults-only home with someone who understands that trust takes time. A quiet room to settle into, predictable routines and gentle interactions will help him feel secure. He prefers keeping all four paws on the ground unless he's the one choosing to climb onto your lap.
His foster carers found that after about four or five days, he began coming out of his shell, and his confidence continued to grow from there. He's been eating well, using his litter tray beautifully and showing just how affectionate he can be when he feels comfortable.
The same little kitten who once trembled at human touch now actively seeks out cuddles and reaches for his favourite people's hands. How special is that?
Beans doesn't need someone to make him brave overnight. He just needs a patient family who'll let him find his courage, one chin scratch at a time. And if you're lucky, you might just end up with a little best friend who wants to hold your hand through every episode of Cat TV.
