About Angelina
Meet Angelina, ready to still your heart... And your treats!
This gorgeous Staffy lady has quickly figured out that people are wonderful, treats are even better, and following someone around might just lead to another delicious reward. She's a clever girl who already knows some common commands and she's more than happy to demonstrate her skills when there's something tasty on offer!
At six years old, Angelina has a lovely balance of enthusiasm and good manners. She can get a little bouncy when she's excited to meet someone, but she responds well to gentle guidance and quickly remembers her training. She's been easy to walk on lead around the shelter, comfortable with handling and harnessing, and wonderfully friendly with the people she's met. There's something really endearing about a dog who is so eager to please, particularly when she's convinced you've got another treat hiding in your pocket.
Angelina loves people, but she'd prefer to keep her canine social circle at a distance. She needs to be the only dog in her new home, as she has shown resource guarding around other animals, particularly when food or valued items are involved. She can also become quite excited around unfamiliar dogs, so her new family will need to manage these situations thoughtfully, avoid forced greetings and help her build positive experiences at a comfortable distance. Luckily, Angelina is very responsive to treats and guidance, which gives her new family a great starting point for continued training.
She'll also need a secure home and garden, as her previous family mentioned that she could take herself on an unscheduled adventure if a gate was left open. Angelina is suited to a home with secondary school aged children or older, where she can enjoy plenty of affection, regular walks and all the benefits of being someone's one and only dog.
Angelina isn't asking for a complicated life. Just a family to love, a comfortable place to relax, some tasty rewards for being a good girl and preferably no other dogs trying to share her dinner. In return, you'll get a lovely, clever and affectionate companion who already seems pretty convinced that humans are the best invention ever.
No appointment is needed, so come and visit Angelina at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting her, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children at home, please bring them along so they can meet Angelina too.
