About Joey
Introducing Joey!
This sweet, sensitive guy has experienced far more than any 6 month old puppy ever should. After coming to the shelter as a stray, Joey was extremely shut down and was very scared of staff doing their best to show him kindness. Since spending some time working with our trainers, Joey has started coming out of his shell and showing his beautiful puppy nature, feeling particularly more confident around other friendly dogs.
Joey has come a long way since coming into our care, but he still has a long way to go until he can live a normal dog's life. Unfamiliar people (particularly men) are something that Joey is still building his confidence around. It can take some time for him to learn that you're safe, but we've seen that once he trusts someone, he forms very strong bonds with them, and LOVES a big cuddle.
He's looking for an adults only household, who have experience around nervous dogs, can read body language to know when Joey's uncomfortable, and can give him all the space and time he needs to settle. We also recommend everyone living at home meets Joey at the shelter to minimize surprises when he gets home.
One thing we've seen with Joey, is that he gains confidence quickly around other friendly dogs, and could really benefit from having another furry friend at home to help show him that he's safe. So if you do have a dog needing a friend, bring them in to meet Joey so we can ensure its a good match.
We know Joey will need a little extra time and love to really shine in his new home, so if you're committed to giving a beautiful boy the home and life he deserves, come in to meet Joey today!
Joey, 16.5kg with a little more growing to do.
