About River
Meet River, a very handsome and very sassy 6-year-old "bad boy" seeking an adult who appreciates a bit of attitude.
This little prince has beautiful grey fur, striking green eyes and more personality than most cats know what to do with.
We are advertising him on his owners’ behalf in the hope he can move straight from his current home into his forever one, with no foster stop in-between.
River is being rehomed because he and another cat in the household simply do not see eye to eye, and his owners are also mindful that his strong opinions and rebellious streak are better suited to a home without young children.
The good news? If you’re looking for a sassy, impertinent, full-of-attitude companion who isn’t afraid to speak his mind, River might just be your perfect match. This clever boy is vocal, talkative and never short of something to say. He likes being around people and will often choose to sit or snuggle beside you when the mood is right. He enjoys short sessions of gentle pats and loves a good brush, but he is an independent thinker with very clear boundaries.
If he’s not in the mood or feels he’s being told off, he will let you know - sometimes rather brazenly. We prefer to think of it as excellent communication skills and a healthy dose of self-respect.
River is highly food-motivated and has already mastered the fine arts of door-opening and counter-surfing. Leave a packet of Sushi Seaweed unattended and it will disappear. Sunbathing ranks a close second on his list of favourite activities. He is fully toilet-trained and thrives in a quiet, low-traffic home with just one or two calm adults who understand that the best relationships involve mutual respect for personal space.
River is FIV positive, but this is genuinely not a big deal. With normal care he can go on to live a long, happy and comfortable life - many FIV+ cats do exactly that.
He simply needs to be the only pet in an experienced, adult-only household.
If you’re the sort of person who prefers a cat with character over a constant lap ornament, who doesn’t mind a bit of cheeky attitude, and who can offer a peaceful home where River can be the undisputed king of the castle, this handsome grey boy could be exactly what you’re looking for.
River is approximately 6 years old, has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and is located with his current family in Berwick
Please get in touch with his owner Max directly if you think you and River might be a match made in slightly rebellious heaven.

About Us
Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.
Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.
Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.
As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.
Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.
How You Can Help
As a small, independent rescue, we depend entirely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters and animal lovers like you. If you would like to support our mission and help us save more lives, please visit the donations page on our website. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
We’d also love to connect with you on social media:

Following and sharing our pages helps us reach more potential adopters and supporters. If we can grow our audience, we’ll be able to generate a small ongoing income to sustain and expand the rescue.
We are always in need of foster carers. If you have a safe, loving temporary home and would like to help us care for a cat on their journey to their forever family, please get in touch. The more foster homes we have, the more cats we can save.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Urban Feline Australia.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many beautiful cats. 💙

Adoption details
We try to make things very easy and straight forward while at the same time making sure we are matching the right cat to the right home.
The first step in the adoption process is a quick chat over the phone to make you are able meet the cats needs and your home is a good fit for the cats personality.
From there we will organize a meet and greet the cats foster home where you will be able to see the cat in action and get a gauge of their personality.
Once you have adopted you new furry feline friend we offer ongoing support and you are welcome to contact us anytime if you have questions, concerns or need advice.
We work hard to make sure that each cat is a good fit for their new home but in the unlikely even that things do not work out we have a 21 day cooling off period and you are more than welcome to return the cat to us during that time.
We will happily refund 50% of the adoption fee or you are welcome to donate this refund to assist with the ongoing cost of the animals care.
