About Cheeko
Introducing Cheeko!
Cheeko is a Chihuahua x born approx 1st January 2020.
This sweet, sweet boy was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray and in awful condition. When we spoke to his owner we asked about his condition & if they were able to care for him. They decided to surrender him for rehoming.
When he first arrived we actually thought Cheeko was much older than he is. Cheeko is missing half of his fur, but since starting him on medicated washes his skin has started to clear up very quickly. He was quite underweight as well, but since being with us he has already gained some weight & is looking much healthier. From what we can see, all of Cheeko's front teeth look to be worn down to almost his gums. This means that when he is in for his desexing, he will most likely be having half of his teeth removed. Strangely his back teeth look like they're in very good condition. Given his lack of teeth, his tongue does stick out quite a lot (which is adorable), but it also means that if he is to eat kibble, it will need to be quite small in size to make it easier for him to eat.
Cheeko's surrender profile states he isn't toilet trained, he does have some basic training, has no separation anxiety of food aggression, he's friendly with children & adult strangers. He's good with other dogs, but he's not always great when travelling in the car. It also states that he has dug under fences.
Since being with us, Cheeko has been nothing but a delight to care for. He is probably the most affectionate Chihuahua we've ever met. He's excited about life & love, he's got a great appetite on him & isn't fussy with food. He's beautifully behaved during his baths & wouldn't stop kissing staff while he was being microchipped, vaccinated and flea & wormed. Cheeko would LOVE to be an inside dog as he loves people so much. He would also kindly request he be allowed to be a lap dog, as he will try to climb on you for cuddles at every chance he's given. He's gotten all staff & volunteers to fall in love with him.. even the ones who prefer the big, boofy dogs have been swooning over him.
Cheeko tested quite well with other dogs. He was happy & relaxed the entire time. We believe Cheeko could be suitable to live with another dog or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Cheeko was non-reactive with our facility cat & roosters. We believe he could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow and controlled introduction to them.
Cheeko has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Cheeko would love to be adopted to a home where he is included in your daily activities and is treated as a cherished member of the family.
If you think you could be that furever family for Cheeko, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
Cheeko's adoption fee is $600, and this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Cheeko is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Cheeko is currently located in East Maitland.
Medical notes
Cheeko will be having multiple teeth removed at the time of his desexing and he is currently having medicated washes for a skin condition, which will NOT require on-going care once healed.
Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
