About Pistachio
Pistachio might be missing a leg, but he certainly hasn't lost his ability to make people fall in love with him.
This gorgeous little black cat is only eleven months old, and despite everything he's been through, he's turning out to be one very sweet, affectionate boy with a whole lot of love to give.
Pistachio arrived at our shelter as a stray with a badly injured right front leg. Unfortunately, the injury was too severe to repair, and our veterinary team made the decision to amputate his leg to give him the best chance at a happy, comfortable life. It was quite a lot for such a young boy to go through, but he's been recovering well, and we're starting to see just how lovely his personality really is.
And what a little sweetheart he's becoming! Pistachio has discovered that human affection is actually pretty wonderful. He'll happily approach people for attention, rub his little face against their hands and lean right into gentle pats. He's also quite the purring enthusiast, happily rumbling away while enjoying some quality time with his favourite humans. He's even been spotted rolling over and showing off his belly, clearly getting more comfortable with the people around him.
Of course, after everything he's experienced, Pistachio can still feel a little unsure sometimes. He appreciates a gentle approach and a little patience when he's feeling nervous. But once he's comfortable, he's shown himself to be a wonderfully friendly, affectionate boy who's more than happy to come back for another round of pats.
As a three-legged cat, Pistachio will need a safe, comfortable home where he can continue recovering and adjusting to life on three paws. His new family will need to be mindful of his mobility and any ongoing care recommended by our veterinary team. But there's still so much ahead for this young boy, and we'd love to see him enjoying all the little things that make being a cat so wonderful.
Pistachio has already overcome quite a lot in his life. Now we'd love for his next chapter to be filled with something much simpler: cosy naps, gentle pats, happy purrs and a family who adores him. Three paws, one beautiful little heart and a whole lifetime of love still waiting to be shared.
We encourage you to come and meet Pistachio at our North Melbourne shelter as soon as possible, as our cats cannot be placed on hold.
