About Frankie
* Assisted rehome or long term foster *
FRANKIE, a happy hearted guy looking for his next adventure. Seeking an adopter or a long-term foster home for approximately 12 months.
If happiness had four paws and a wagging tail, it might just look like Frankie! This much loved six-year-old Kelpie × Catahoula is a joyful, affectionate boy with a cheeky streak and a heart full of love.
Frankie has spent his life on acreage with the family who raised him from eight weeks old. Due to a significant change in his owner’s circumstances and an interstate move, he now needs either a loving forever home or a committed foster family who can welcome him for around a year.
Life with Frankie
Frankie loves big walks, games, chasing sticks, ear scratches and cuddles. He’ll happily join in with a little singing and dancing, too! His bouncy enthusiasm is infectious, and he would love people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life.
At 26kg, he’s a sturdy, medium-sized companion with that clever Kelpie brain. He walks well on lead, knowssit, down and stay, and loves learning through games and rewards. He can be a little cheeky and test the boundaries, so kind and consistent guidance will help him shine.
After his daily exercise and fun, Frankie is happy to settle into bed, although he sometimes needs reminding that it’s time to switch off!
His ideal home
Frankie would thrive with an active family or individual, a securely fenced yard with room to stretch his legs, and plenty of companionship. He has always had someone working from home, although he can manage around five to six hours alone if suitable enrichment such as kongs are provided.
He is toilet trained, currently sleeps in the laundry at night and isn’t generally destructive though a stuffed toy may find itself enthusiastically unstuffed! He’s also an opportunistic snack thief, so unattended food is fair game in Frankie’s eyes.
Friends, family and other animals
Frankie is very friendly with people and has been lovely around babies and young children. His happy, bouncy exuberant nature means sensible supervision is still needed around little ones!
He has lived around cats and may enjoy a compatible canine companion following gradual introductions. His experience with other dogs is limited, and he can be vocal and overexcited with some dogs, so a thoughtful match matters.
He has been around livestock, but may try to round up cattle though absolutely no aggression shown. Wildlife can also distract him, so his recall needs further work and he’ll need secure areas for off-lead adventures. Pocket-pet compatibility is unknown.
A little more about Frankie
Frankie is desexed, has no reported medical issues or bite history, and receives monthly parasite treatment. His vaccinations will need reviewing and updating, as he has only received his initial vaccinations.
Loyal, playful and wonderfully affectionate, Frankie has so much love to give. He’s looking for someone who will make room for his energy, his cheekiness and his very big heart, whether that’s forever or while his owner rebuilds her life.
Please get in touch if you could offer Frankie an adoptive home or approximately 12 months of committed foster care.
