About Hiccup
Hello there! I’m Hiccup, and I’m officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR HICCUP
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM

My Ideal Home:
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• As a social, playful and high energy pup, I enjoy spending time with a social, energetic dog.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I absolutely love my food and treats! I can become a little excited at treat time and may occasionally try to snatch treats from your hand. However, when reminded to be gentle, I respond well and I take treats more politely. Continued training will help me a to become better. Due to my enthusiasm around food, a home without very young children may be best.
• Socialisation is just as important as training. Taking me to new places, introducing me to all sorts of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
Puppy
• As I am still a pup, which means I will chew, nip, have accidents, bark, and sometimes be a little destructive. With patience, consistency, and training, I’ll learn — but I need a family fully committed to putting in the time and effort to help me succeed. I am ready to learn and adapt with the love, structure and guidance you provide.
Dog Compatibility:
• I absolutely love other dogs! I’m energetic and playful, so I’d thrive with a dog who matches my enthusiasm.
• I need a doggy companion to keep me company when my family isn’t home, or a household where someone is around most of the time. I can feel lonely and a little anxious when left alone, which may lead to barking or destructive behaviour.
Cat / small animal:
• I was unsure around cats at the shelter and may become more inquisitive as my confidence grows. If I join a home with a cat, they’ll need to be dog-savvy and introductions must be gradual and well managed.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I’m excited.
• I’m highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I LOVE toys — especially my squeaky toys!
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• I’m clever, enthusiastic, and would thrive with a family who’ll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks.
Training:
• I haven’t had any formal training yet, so I’ll need help with all my basic manners and life skills. The good news is I love food and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• My recall needs work, as I can sometimes ignore you if I’m distracted — this is something we’ll need to practice together.
• I can be a little bouncy when excited, but consistent training will help me learn calmer behaviours.
• I can feel anxious when left alone in the backyard and may become vocal, barking or whining. A home where I can spend plenty of time indoors, have lots of company, and be provided with enrichment toys or treats when alone would suit me best.
• I’m not housetrained yet, as I haven’t previously been allowed inside, so I’ll need guidance and consistency to learn.
Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Hiccup if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
