About Jude
Jude has a bit of a secret identity. Around strangers, he's a shy little gentleman who'd rather stay out of sight. But when he's feeling at home? Suddenly, everything in the house becomes a potential toy, and he's got a very important schedule of chasing things to attend to!
This gorgeous fluffy tabby is only eight months old, and he's already come such a long way since arriving at our shelter as a frightened little stray.
Initially, Jude preferred hiding away from the unfamiliar world around him. But with gentle encouragement, he began showing us his softer side, leaning into pats, enjoying tasty treats and even rolling around when he felt comfortable. There was clearly a sweet little boy underneath all that shyness!
Jude has since spent time in two foster homes, and what a difference a little peace and quiet can make!
During his first foster stay, he mostly kept to himself, coming out to explore and play when the house was quiet. But his second foster family has seen a wonderful transformation. Jude has become a confident little explorer around the house, happily playing, chasing anything that catches his attention and going about his daily activities without needing to hide away.
Apparently, this young man has quite the playful personality once he feels safe enough to show it!
Of course, Jude is still a little shy when unfamiliar people come to visit. His foster carer says he'll usually disappear into his favourite hiding spot until the visitors leave, then come straight back out as though nothing happened. He's not quite ready to be the official welcoming committee, and that's perfectly okay!
Jude would love a calm, patient home where he can settle in at his own pace.
A quiet room to start with, some cosy and accessible hiding spots, plenty of toys and gentle, positive interactions will help him continue building his confidence. He's already shown us that he can enjoy affection, but he'll need someone who understands that trust comes first and lets him decide when he's ready for attention.
The best thing about Jude is knowing there's a playful, curious little character just waiting to feel comfortable enough to be himself. He's already made some wonderful progress, and we'd love to see him spend the rest of his kittenhood chasing toys, discovering new favourite spots and learning that home is somewhere he never has to feel afraid.
Jude is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Jude - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
