Meet Sweetheart
And with a name like that, she's got some pretty big expectations to live up to. Luckily, she's understood the assignment!
Sweetheart is a gentle, affectionate girl who might be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she's more than happy to show you exactly how she earned her name! This lovely lady has a soft, sweet nature and a particular talent for melting into your hands when the pats begin. Overall she's a relaxed girl who enjoys taking life at her own pace, although she'll happily wander over to greet passing visitors and see what they have on offer. She's also got a few tricks up her sleeve, including a lovely sit, and she's learning how to drop with a little encouragement. She might not have an impressive résumé of party tricks, but with those sweet eyes and that affectionate personality, who needs tricks when you've already mastered the art of winning people over?
She'd thrive in a calm, patient household where she can settle in at her own pace, enjoy plenty of reassurance and continue building her confidence through positive experiences. She's curious about other dogs but she'd be happiest as the only dog for now, giving her the space to develop her social skill. She's open to meeting children, and while previous breed experience would be beneficial, it's certainly not essential for a family willing to understand her needs. Sweetheart doesn't need a life full of excitement or grand adventures to be happy - just a safe place to call home, people who adore her and plenty of opportunities to lean in for another cuddle.

Post Adoption Life:
With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
