About Piper
Some dogs have a way of making you fall in love with them without even trying. Piper is one of those dogs.
This beautiful senior Border Collie is approaching her twelfth birthday, and is simply the BEST girl. After spending nearly twelve years in the world, we'd love nothing more than to see her enjoying the comforts of a loving home.
Piper is an absolute sweetheart with a gentle, easygoing nature that makes her such a pleasure to be around. She's wonderfully friendly with new people, comfortable with gentle handling and quite happy to head out for a lovely walk. She's generally easy on lead, although she occasionally gets a little distracted and forgets to check in with the person walking her, but at her age, we think she's allowed to stop and appreciate the little things!
She's also shown some lovely manners around other dogs. During her behaviour assessment, Piper was relaxed and polite with another dog, and she's generally happy to mind her own business when passing dogs on walks. She may be suitable to live with another well-matched dog following a successful meet and greet, and could join a family with primary school aged children or older.
As an older lady, Piper will appreciate a family who can offer her a comfortable routine, gentle handling and time to adjust to new surroundings at her own pace. She has a few age-related health considerations, including some joint changes, and has already undergone dental surgery while in our care. Our veterinary team will happily talk through her medical history and ongoing needs before adoption, so her new family can feel prepared to give her the care she deserves.
There's something particularly special about giving a senior dog a home. It doesn't have to be filled with grand adventures or exciting new experiences. Sometimes, the most wonderful things are the simplest: a comfortable bed, a leisurely walk, a familiar voice calling their name and someone who's always happy to see them.
Piper has already given us every reason to believe she's a very special girl. Now we'd love to find someone who'll make her feel just as special in return. She's sweet, gentle and has so much companionship still to offer. All she needs is a family ready to love her through this next chapter.
No appointment is needed, so come and visit Piper at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting her, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children or another dog at home, please bring them along so they can meet Piper too.
