About Sir Leroy Fathead Iv
Sir Leroy Fathead IV has a name fit for royalty, and he's certainly ready to be treated like it. His preferred throne? Your lap. His favourite royal delicacy? Squeezable cat treats. And his loyal subjects? Well, that's where you come in!
Despite his rather grand title, Leroy is a wonderfully down-to-earth gentleman who simply adores human company. This handsome, fluffy boy has spent time in two foster homes, where he's shown just how affectionate and entertaining he can be. He loves sitting on laps, leaning in for attention and enjoying a good brushing session. He's also quite the conversationalist, happily chatting away throughout the day and occasionally offering his opinions at night. Apparently, royal announcements don't always follow a convenient schedule!
But don't mistake this four-year-old gentleman for a sleepy old king. Leroy has a playful side too! He loves chasing his catnip mouse, playing with string toys and exploring every corner of the house. He's equally happy entertaining himself or inviting his favourite human to join in. Sometimes his excitement can lead to a gentle little nip, so having toys handy to redirect his enthusiasm will help keep playtime fun for everyone.
Now, even royalty can have their nervous moments. Leroy can be startled by unfamiliar noises, particularly things like dogs barking, people shouting outside or the television. When things feel overwhelming, he appreciates having a safe little retreat where he can collect himself. The lovely thing is that he gains confidence with someone he trusts nearby. Both foster carers found that he became comfortable within a few days, and after a week, he was happily treating the house like his own. He's also generally good with his litter tray, although he had a few accidents during his initial adjustment in foster care, so a quiet settling-in space will help him find his feet.
Leroy has also had some important medical care during his time with us. He's undergone dental surgery to address significant dental disease, and his new family will need to maintain his dental health with appropriate home care and regular vet checks. He's also FIV+, which means he'll need to live strictly indoors and be the only cat in the household or live with other FIV+ cats. Many FIV+ cats enjoy long, happy lives with good care, and Leroy has every reason to look forward to a wonderful future.
Behind the magnificent name is a genuinely lovely cat who just wants to be close to his people. Someone to follow around the house, a lap to curl up on, a few toys to chase and perhaps a little patience when the world gets noisy. Sir Leroy Fathead IV isn't asking for an actual kingdom. Just a loving home where he can finally settle in and rule your heart instead.
We encourage you to come and meet Sir Leroy Fathead IV at our North Melbourne shelter as soon as possible, as our cats cannot be placed on hold.
