About Mika
Mika is an exceptionally kind, gentle cat with the sweetest temperament. If you're looking for a cat with a calm, peaceful presence, Mika might just be your girl.
That's not to say she doesn't have a playful side! Mika LOVES playing with her cat friends, especially chasey. She can really tear around the house at full speed! She also gets the zoomies at dusk and loves chasing bugs. She's more than happy to entertain herself but she loves it even more when her humans play with her.
Mika had a tough start to life, born into a cat colony in western Sydney. When she was first rescued, she was very frightened of people, and while she's grown in confidence enormously, there's still the odd moment when she's easily startled. Unexpected approaches, raised voices and loud noises can frighten her.
But here's the thing about Mika. Underneath that initial shyness is an absolute lovebug. The kind of cheerful, loving cat that you'd never expect could be shy.
When you're sitting quietly, or patting another cat, Mika will come up for a cuddle. And when she does, she can't get enough! She winds herself around your legs, rubs against your hands, gazes up at you with those big, soulful eyes and nudges firmly into you for more pats.
Mornings are particularly special. Mika will climb into bed, purring like crazy, and happily indulge in chin scritches, back rubs, nose boops and even rubbing her head against yours. It's as though she's making up for all the affection she's been holding back!
Mika would thrive in a quieter home without too much hustle and bustle, where her people understand that trust takes time. She needs someone who'll let her approach at her own pace, respect when she needs space, and gently encourage her to push past her boundaries. In return, you'll get to experience the incredibly affectionate, loving, kind side of Mika that makes her so special.
She's a social girl with her feline friends, so she'd love a home with other cats. She could even be adopted alongside one of her best buddies in foster care, Chess or Vesper. Her fur is wonderfully soft and silky, and she's easy to groom.
Mika also loves a good run around the backyard, a nap in the sunshine and chasing bugs, so she'll need a home with secure outdoor access.
Mika just wants to feel safe enough to let her love shine. Give her the patience, gentleness and affection she needs, and you might just find yourself with the most devoted little companion.
