About Ruby and Theo
⚠️ Assisted rehoming 🏡
Ruby is a 14kg female Labradoodle (DOB 17/12/2021) and Theo is an 8kg male Toy Poodle (DOB 29/04/2022). Both are desexed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and up to date with worming.
They have grown up together, are very closely bonded and must be rehomed together.
They are both incredibly loving, affectionate, gentle and kind-natured dogs who absolutely adore people and children. They’ve grown up around young kids and are very patient and tolerant with them.
Ruby is the playful one who loves running around, playing and doing zoomies with the kids, but she’s equally as cuddly and affectionate. She’s a clever girl who knows sit, lie down, shake and “touch” (she boops your fist with her nose!). Theo is the more laid-back, cuddly one who loves nothing more than snuggling into your lap and being close to you. He knows how to sit and is such a sweet little companion.
Both are fully toilet-trained indoor dogs who are accustomed to sleeping inside, usually cuddled up in bed with their humans. They absolutely love affection and being around their people, but they’re also perfectly comfortable being left home together during the day. They love to laze around, snooze and cuddle up together.
They love going for walks and get very excited initially but settle down quite quickly and walk well on the lead. They would benefit from more regular walks and some consistent lead training. They enjoy running around and playing but are equally happy relaxing at home.
They’re generally very social with other dogs, particularly Ruby! Theo can be a little reserved initially but warms up once he’s comfortable. They prefer friendly, calmer dogs rather than overly boisterous ones and can bark at dogs behind fences. They’ve never been around cats, so their compatibility is unknown.
They do bark when someone comes to the door and can jump up when excited to greet people, although this has improved. They sometimes forget their size in their excitement, so care is needed around small children during greetings. They don’t generally dig, chew furniture or destroy belongings, although food and food wrappers need to be kept out of reach!
They currently live in a townhouse and are completely fine with stairs. They don’t need a huge yard, but a secure outdoor area with some grass for zoomies, exploring and sunbaking would be ideal. They would suit a loving family, couple or individual who will welcome them indoors and treat them as part of the family.
Both require professional grooming approximately every 6–8 weeks.
Ruby does have a history of recurring yeast infections in her ears, which require ongoing attention. Her ears have recently been cleaned and treated, and she’s currently trialling Royal Canin Anallergenic food to investigate possible food sensitivities. Theo is eating the same diet. Ruby requires regular ear monitoring and cleaning (currently weekly), and her new family would need to maintain her strict dietary trial and follow veterinary advice regarding ongoing care.
Above all, they are two incredibly beautiful, affectionate dogs with so much love to give. They have such a special bond and genuinely love being together.
⚠️ Assisted rehoming 🏡
This is an assisted rehoming which means that Animals In Need Brisbane (AINB) will advertise, contact applicants and pass on applications that meet the the criteria to the owner who will make the final decision on the rehoming of the animal. There is no adoption fee for assisted rehomings but we do ask for a donation (amount of their choosing) from the successful applicant to AINB, in recognition of the administrative and time costs incurred.
👉🏼 Please ensure you include all relevant information in your application, including fencing, other pets, children and ages etc. or we may not be able to pass on your application.

Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
