About Dixie
Hi, I'm Dixie!
I'm your new assistant. Are you dusting? I'll help! Doing the washing? I'm right there. Going to the bathroom? Don’t you worry, I'll be supervising from the doorway. I take my responsibilities seriously.
I'm a chatty girl with a lot of opinions, and I'd love someone to share them with. I'll meow to find you when I can't see you, meow at a closed door to make it magically open, and occasionally meow in my sleep and wake myself up.
When I'm not helping or commentating, I'm thinking. My favourite spots for a good think are cardboard boxes and the inside of my foster mum's wardrobe. I used to be scared of windows and natural light, but I've decided they're actually quite interesting, and now I spend a lot of time looking out at the world.
I’m still learning how to play. I understand the general concept, and I definitely enjoy it, but sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed and need to take myself off to the wardrobe for a reset.
In the research facility, I was known to be a bit of a big sister to the other cats, so I might be okay living with another calm cat with a slow introduction.
I'd love a home with someone who's around a lot. People who work from home or someone retired would be ideal. I'm independent to a point, but I do best when my person is nearby. The one day my foster mum had to go into the office, I got a bit panicky, so I'd prefer not to repeat that.
I'm a love bug with a loud purr, and I'm only getting better! When I came into foster care, I was a frightened girl who spent 24 hours in my cat cave. But within a few days I was on the couch watching TV very bravely. I just need to right forever home to keep growing in. Could that be with you?

Beagle Freedom Cats have all been rescued from research environments, and their early life experiences are very different from most rescue cats. This shapes how they view the world, and how they interact with new people and places. When you give a BFA cat a chance, you’re saving their life and helping create space for the next research cat to be rescued.
