About River
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
River is a curious little cat. She came into care very shut down and seemed almost depressed. She hid a lot and was happiest staying out of sight behind cupboards and under beds and coming out at night to eat. She would freeze when patted and was very wary and scared.
A change of plan was needed and River was kept in a smaller room until she slowly came to understand that her space was safe and that she was in a good place. She came to accept her situtation and befriended her Carer, loving being groomed with both a slicker brush and a rubber grooming brush. Her whole personality relaxed and she started to show curious and friendly behaviour, even learning to play and bat cat toys around and climb towers and use the scratching posts. Her world expanded and she now comes out into the whole house, and realises that kind people can be trusted. She is in the stage where she really, really wants human attention but is still a little wary of getting it! She accepts being groomed but is still a little bit nervous about hands. This acceptance of Carers took 4-6 weeks and will be ongoing - but its truly lovely seeing her blossom.
Food is definitely the way to her heart. She really loves those creamy stick treats and will even balance on her hind legs and use for front legs to direct your hand into making sure the treat does not stop!!
River has been desxed and vaccinated and is up to date with flea/worm meds. She is excellent with litter tray.
River has an unusual blended or brindled tortoiseshell coat. The black, orange and cream hairs are closely woven resulting in a mottled, textured appearance rather than solid blocks of colour. Because she has a longer fluffy coat this blending is highlighted even more.
My Ideal Home:
River would suit someone who is looking for a sweet young fluffy second cat, or she could be an only cat, or even a companion to a nice cat-friendly dog.
Whereever she ends up, she will need someone who understands that she will take time to learn to trust and once she gains that trust she will be a loving companion.
What is Known About My Background:
Came from Central Coast Pound.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
Very keen to make friends with Carers cat and dog. Dog accepts this, senior male cat is less accomodating!
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
