About Meadow
🌸 Meet Meadow – A Little Chihuahua with a Big Personality! 🌸
At just one year old, Meadow is still learning about the big, wide world and discovering that it can be a pretty wonderful place! This little Chihuahua has been gaining confidence in foster care, and as she settles in, more of her personality is shining through. ❤️
🐾 A Playful Little Social Butterfly
Meadow enjoys the company of other dogs and currently lives happily alongside several canine friends of different sizes. She loves chasing and playing with the smaller dogs, having a game of tug with her bigger foster brother, and even snuggling up with her little Dachshund buddy for a snooze. 🐶💕
Like many young dogs, Meadow is still learning her doggy manners and how to recognise when her playmates have had enough. She can occasionally become overwhelmed if another dog gets too close when she wants some space, so she’ll benefit from a family who understands canine body language and can help her navigate these situations.
Although Meadow is generally good with other dogs, she can be wary of unfamiliar dogs, so careful introductions will be important.
💗 A Little Girl Who Needs Time to Trust
Meadow can be unsure of new people and may bark to let everyone know she’s noticed them! She can be a little conflicted around strangers, sometimes approaching before retreating to the safety of her trusted humans.
Once she feels comfortable, she’s much more willing to engage, but she needs people who understand that trust takes time.
Meadow’s new family will need to let her approach people in her own time, without forcing interactions or picking her up unnecessarily. She has previously snapped when a stranger picked her up and attempted to kiss her, so respecting her boundaries and allowing her to feel safe will be essential.
With patience, positive reinforcement and plenty of tasty treats, Meadow has the opportunity to continue building her confidence.
🏡 Meadow’s Ideal Home
Meadow is looking for a calm, understanding home with people who appreciate that little dogs have big feelings, too!
Her ideal family will:
🐾 Have children aged 12 years and over, who can respect her space and understand when she needs a break.
🐾 Be happy to continue building her confidence using positive reinforcement.
🐾 Understand that she can be wary of strangers and unfamiliar dogs.
🐾 Provide appropriate supervision and management around other dogs, particularly when she needs some space.
🐾 Keep a close eye on doors and gates, as Meadow is a little escape artist!
🐾 Enjoy taking her for walks and providing plenty of playtime and enrichment.
🐾 Be patient with grooming and handling, as she’s still learning to feel comfortable with having her paws held.
Meadow enjoys having soft toys and chew toys to keep her entertained, and she gets plenty of exercise throughout the day. When it’s time to settle down for the night, she loves sleeping inside on her foster carer’s bed. Why sleep alone when there’s a perfectly good human bed available? 😉❤️
Meadow can also be vocal when she hears unfamiliar noises and has a keen interest in chasing birds and other wildlife.
Vet visits are particularly stressful for her, and she’ll need a patient family willing to help her develop more positive associations with handling and veterinary care.
❤️ Could You Be Meadow’s Special Someone?
Meadow isn’t necessarily the dog who will rush up to every stranger and demand cuddles. She’s a young Chihuahua who needs a little understanding, some gentle guidance and the freedom to build relationships at her own pace.
She’s playful, enjoys canine companionship and has already made progress as her confidence has grown in foster care.
With the right family, Meadow can continue to blossom into the happy, confident little dog she’s learning to be.
If you have a kind heart, a patient approach and room on your bed for a little Chihuahua, Meadow might just be the girl you’ve been waiting for! 🌸🐾
Medical notes
1 year old Meadow is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
Meadow has had a full check up including bloods and is a healthy young dog.
