About Billy
Billy has a few simple requests for his next home: lovely people, good walks, plenty of pats and preferably a very relaxed approach to bath time.
This handsome Jack Russell is nearly eight years old, but he's still got plenty of energy, enthusiasm and affection to share. And while he might have a few opinions about getting wet, he's otherwise a wonderfully easygoing little gentleman!
Billy spent his whole life with one family before a change in circumstances brought him to our shelter. He's used to a quiet household and having his favourite people around, and it's clear how much he enjoys human company. He's the kind of boy who gets excited when visitors arrive, gives them an enthusiastic welcome and then settles down nicely once the introductions are over. He absolutely loves a good pat, and his sweet, affectionate nature makes him very easy to fall for.
He's also got some lovely manners! Billy already knows a few basic commands, is comfortable wearing a harness and walks beautifully on lead. He's even a quiet little passenger in the car, making him a wonderful candidate for adventures together. He can sometimes bark when meeting unfamiliar people or animals, but he's shown some lovely social skills during his shelter assessments. He's been friendly with new people, easy to handle and has interacted well with another dog.
Billy may be suitable to live with another well matched dog, following a successful meet and greet, and could join a family with primary school aged children or older. He'll appreciate gentle, positive introductions to new experiences and continued reward-based training as he settles into his new life. He also has a few manageable health considerations, including some extra weight to lose and minor dental and skin concerns, which our veterinary team will explain before adoption.
After spending nearly eight years with the same family, Billy deserves another chance to enjoy all the little things that make life wonderful. Familiar routines, interesting walks, someone to greet when they come home and a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. He's already got the sweet personality and the good manners. Now he just needs someone to share them with.
No appointment is needed, so come and visit Billy at our North Melbourne shelter. If you're interested in adopting him, our team can arrange a meet and greet. If you have children or another dog at home, please bring them along so they can meet Billy too.
