🩷 Azelie – A Gentle Soul Learning to Trust
Azelie is a beautiful, timid girl who is still learning that the world doesn't have to be such a frightening place. Nervous of people and unfamiliar surroundings, she finds comfort in quiet spaces where she can feel safe and observe the world from a distance.
When Azelie first arrived in foster care, she was completely shut down, spending her first few days hiding behind the hot water unit, too frightened to venture out. Since then, she has begun making small but meaningful steps forward.
She now happily accepts treats, ventures inside for short periods and has even started enjoying little bursts of play with her foster family's resident dog. While she still prefers to spend much of her day tucked away in her favourite outdoor corner, she has discovered the comfort and security of her crate at night.
What makes Azelie so special is that, despite how frightened she is, she really does try. You can see her wanting to be brave, even when her nerves get the better of her. Every little step forward takes courage, and she's trying her very best.
Despite her fears, Azelie has a sweet and affectionate side. She enjoys gentle pats and will even offer little kisses on your hand when she feels comfortable. And if there's one thing that can help her find a little courage, it's cheese! Azelie absolutely LOVES cheese and will often overcome her nerves for a tasty piece. She's also a big fan of pigs' ears and chew toys.
Azelie gets along beautifully with other dogs and gains confidence from their company. She will need a calm, confident resident dog who can help show her that people can be kind and the world isn't quite so scary. She also walks well on a lead, which is another lovely positive for this nervous girl.
Azelie is searching for a quiet, patient and understanding home with people who are willing to give her the time and space she needs. Although she has been very gentle around children in foster care, a quieter home with older children would likely suit her best due to her nervous nature.
Her journey towards confidence will be a long one, and she needs a family who won't rush her, who will respect her boundaries and celebrate even the smallest steps forward.
Azelie isn't ready to take on the world just yet, but she's slowly beginning to discover that there are good things waiting for her beyond her safe little corner.
If you have a peaceful home, a friendly canine companion and plenty of patience and love to give, Azelie might just be the special girl you've been waiting for. ❤️
