About Delbert
Meet Delbert!
Delbert is a handsome 9-month-old boy who is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. He can be quite frightened when first settling into a new enviroment, so he'll need a patient and understanding family who is happy to let him find his feet at his own pace. But with a little time and reassurance, Delbert has shown there's a sweet, playful boy waiting beneath that intial nervousness!
His foster carer found that Delbert spent his first couple of days feeling scared and keeping to himself. However, once Delbert began to feel a little more comfortable, he began venturing out to play while his foster carer was in the room. A few days later, he was even approaching for pats and playtime! This is such a lovely glimpse into Delbert's personality and how much progress he can make when he's given time and space to feel safe.
Delbert will need an adult-only home that understands trust isn't something that can be rushed. He may take time to settle in, and his new family will need to be comfortable allowing him to hide when he needs to, explore at his own pace and approach for pats when he feels ready. His family will need to appreciate the little milestones along the way, from watching him confidently explore, to seeing him choose play nearby or approach for pats as his trust grows.
At just 9 months old, Delbert still has so much growing and learning ahead of him. With a calm environment and gentle encouragement, we know Delbert will blossom into a lovely companion.
If you have a soft spot for the quieter ones and understand that some cats just need a little longer to feel at home, Delbert could be your special boy.
Delbert is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment.
