About Jack
With his velvet ears and expressive face, Jack has mastered the art of melting his foster carer’s heart with just one look! He is adept at training his humans well, and would like his forever home to know he takes his meals with a little poached chicken (or perhaps a dash of bone broth, a sprinkle of cheese, a dollop of yoghurt?), and will not be rushed on his twice daily sniffaris. Any doubts you have about whether you may be spoiling him will be quickly put aside when he gives you those soft smiley eyes, you can feel the love and appreciation emanating from him; his gratitude for your efforts is palpable.
Still a young dog, Jack can be a bit exciteable at the start of a walk and may pull a little zig zagging around to get to all the sniffs. He does relax into the stroll, although it makes him very happy to greet passerby and while he would never jump on someone he does do a happy hoppy dance hello. He isn’t much fussed by other dogs, and often completely ignores them in favour of laying the love on the human at the other end of the lead. He is completely unbothered passing yards with barking dogs.
Fancying himself a bit of a home security expert, Jack does enjoy patrolling around and checking the goings on from the front window. Although not particularly vocal he has barked a small handful of times to alert his carers to an arrival (rest assured he is happy to welcome guests and play host, once you’ve given the okay for them to come in).
Confident and curious, Jack is thriving in foster care with a yard to potter around in and many quiet nature reserves and green spaces nearby to explore - he is untested in busier areas close to the city so would prefer a forever home out in the suburbs where the pace of life is a little more geared towards stopping to smell the flowers, and the trees, and the grass… And well, everything.
Although Jack has not been tested for a full work day alone, he is very comfortable spending time by himself and shows the capacity to build to longer periods so long as he has access to toilet and enrichment activities to occupy him. He would happily have his people around more often than not though, and is a wonderful and unobtrusive companion for a home office with a cosy corner for him to snooze.
Our gorgeous golden boy is ready to light up the life of a lucky forever home, and will make a wonderful match for a range of lifestyles and families - but with a face like this, he’s not likely to be looking for very long!

Adoption details
Thinking about adopting?
We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
If you’re not sure whether you tick every box, please still apply! We’re happy to have a conversation and see if we have a greyhound who might be the right fit.
Please fill in as much detail as you can as there’s no word limit on any question.
