About Wally
Where's Wally? Well, after three years, we finally have an answer!
This magnificent fluffy ginger boy recently found his way into our shelter, where his previous family recognised him after he'd been missing for around three years. Where has he been all this time? What adventures has he had? Unfortunately, Wally isn't sharing any details.
What we do know is that underneath all that gorgeous ginger fluff is a very friendly, lovely boy. Wally is easy to handle and seems quite happy making friends with the people around him. Before his unexpected adventure, he lived with a family who described him as a quiet cat who enjoyed rubbing against people's legs and spending time with their children. While that was a few years ago, it's lovely to know he's experienced family life before.
After spending so long exploring the great outdoors, Wally might need a little refresher on the rules of indoor living, particularly when it comes to using a litter tray! He's occasionally been doing his business outside the tray here at the shelter, but considering his history, he may simply need some help getting used to having an indoor toilet again. Starting him off in a smaller, quiet room with a large, easily accessible litter tray, keeping it clean and gradually introducing him to the rest of the house can help him develop a comfortable routine. A little patience and positive encouragement will go a long way.
Wally is also FIV positive, which means his future adventures will need to take place safely indoors. But who says indoor life has to be boring? A cosy window perch, scratching posts, interactive toys and plenty of enrichment will give this former explorer lots to enjoy without needing to venture outside.
After three years of mystery, we'd love nothing more than to see Wally finally settle into a comfortable home where his biggest adventures involve finding the best sunny spot, enjoying good food and being thoroughly spoiled. He's already had quite enough excitement for one lifetime!
We encourage you to come and meet Wally at our North Melbourne shelter as soon as possible, as our cats cannot be placed on hold.
