About Apricot
πΎπ MEET APRICOT β A LITTLE CAVOODLE WITH A HEART FULL OF LOVE, JUST WAITING TO BLOSSOM! ππΎ
Some dogs rush straight into your arms, ready to love the whole world. Others need a little more time to discover that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. Our beautiful Apricot is one of those special girls, and we're hoping someone will look beyond her initial shyness and give her the chance she deserves. β€οΈ
πΆ MEET APRICOT
Breed: Cavoodle
Age: 5 years and 5 months old
Weight: 7.5kg
Apricot came into care as an ex-breeding girl and is now learning all about life as a much-loved family pet.
π A SHY GIRL WITH SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE
Apricot can be very timid when meeting new people. She may not rush over to greet you straight away, and she needs time to feel comfortable before showing you her beautiful personality.
But please don't let that first impression put you off!
Once Apricot learns to trust you, she becomes a gorgeous, affectionate little companion who loves being close to her favourite humans. She'll happily follow you around the house, settle beside you on the couch and soak up all the cuddles she can get.
Apricot doesn't need you to rush her. She needs you to believe in her and give her the time to blossom. πΈ
π DOG FRIENDLY β A FRIEND IS A MUST!
Apricot absolutely loves the company of other dogs and will need a friendly, compatible dog in her forever home.
She enjoys snuggling up with her foster doggy friends, receiving face licks and being part of the gang. Having another dog around helps her feel more confident and gives her companionship throughout the day.
Apricot can be a little selective about which small dogs she likes, and she occasionally gets jealous when another dog receives attention from her humans. She might just squeeze her way in for a pat to remind everyone she's there too! π
Her new family will need to have another dog who is happy to be her friend and share their home with her.
π§ CHILDREN AND FAMILY LIFE
Apricot can live with children and has shown that she enjoys the company of older school-aged children and teenagers.
She has even formed a lovely bond with the six-year-old boy next door, getting excited when he comes to visit.
However, she is not comfortable with preschool-aged children, so she will need a home with older, gentle children who understand that she sometimes needs space and time to feel safe.
π‘ HOME COMFORTS AND DAILY LIFE
Apricot is a gentle, mostly quiet and sedate girl who enjoys the simple pleasures in life: a comfy couch, cuddles with her favourite people and snuggling with her doggy friends.
When she feels comfortable, she also has a playful, goofy side! She sometimes joins the other dogs for zoomies and playtime, showing us that there's more to this little girl than her initial timid nature.
She's very quiet and rarely barks, and a little reassurance is usually all she needs.
Apricot is toilet trained and does very well with her routine. She sleeps in her crate overnight, has a special spot on the couch that she likes to call her own, and enjoys being close to her humans.
πΎ WALKS, TRAINING AND LITTLE TALENTS
Apricot loves her walks and gets very excited when she sees her harness and lead come out. She walks beautifully on lead and would happily enjoy long walks with her favourite person.
She can be nervous around unfamiliar dogs when out walking, but having one of her doggy friends beside her helps her feel more confident.
Apricot knows her sit and stay for treats and enjoys enrichment games where she gets to work out how to uncover hidden goodies. She's still learning about some of the joys of being a family pet, so she'll benefit from continued encouragement and positive experiences.
She tolerates baths, brushing and grooming, and she even loves wearing a little coat! π₯°
β€οΈ HER IDEAL HOME
Apricot forms strong bonds with her favourite humans and can struggle when they leave. For this reason, she would be best suited to a home where someone is around for most of the day.
Her new family will need to help her gradually build confidence with being left alone, using patience and gentle training rather than expecting her to settle independently straight away.
She will also need another friendly, compatible dog for companionship and confidence.
Apricot hasn't been tested with cats or other small animals, so we cannot confirm how she would respond to them.
πΈ WHY APRICOT DESERVES A CHANCE
Apricot has already come such a long way since entering foster care. She's learning her routines, becoming more comfortable and showing the sweet, silly and affectionate girl hiding beneath her initial shyness.
She may not be the dog who runs straight up to you at a meet and greet. She may need a little time to watch, observe and decide that you're someone she can trust.
But imagine being the person she finally chooses. The person she follows from room to room, snuggles beside on the couch and looks to for comfort. The person who helps her discover that she no longer needs to be nervous about the world around her.
Those little moments of trust are incredibly special, and Apricot has so much potential to blossom in the right home. β€οΈ
π‘ APRICOT'S FOREVER HOME CHECKLIST
π A patient, understanding family willing to give her time to settle
π Another friendly, compatible dog is essential
π§ Older school-aged children or teenagers only
β€οΈ Someone home for most of the day
πΎ A family willing to work gently on her confidence
πΈ A safe, loving home where she can continue to grow at her own pace
PLEASE DON'T OVERLOOK APRICOT JUST BECAUSE SHE'S NERVOUS WHEN YOU FIRST MEET HER. β€οΈ
Look beyond the initial shyness. Give her the opportunity to feel safe. Let her come to you in her own time.
Behind that cautious first impression is a loving little girl who wants to belong, feel secure and have a family of her very own.
Could you be the person who helps Apricot blossom? πΎπ
APRICOT β A LITTLE SHY AT FIRST, A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE ONCE YOU'RE HER PERSON. πΈβ€οΈ

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.

INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption - each bio will state if available for adoption - please check before applying.
