About Pancake
Some dogs are full of energy from dawn until dusk. Pancake would like it known that she is not one of those dogs.
This beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback girl is the very definition of a gentle giant. With her sweet nature, easy-going attitude, and instant affection for just about everyone she meets, Pancake has a way of making friends wherever she goes. New people don't stay strangers for long when Pancake is around, and she's always ready to welcome admirers into her ever-growing fan club.
Of course, Pancake's understanding of her own size is... a little questionable. While she may be a large dog on paper, in her heart she firmly believes she is the perfect lap dog, and she is more than willing to prove it. If you're sitting down, don't be surprised if Pancake decides there's plenty of room for her too.
At the shelter, Pancake spends her days hanging out with her good friend Lucy, showing off her gentle manners and enjoying the company of those around her. She's social, affectionate, and loves being included in whatever is going on.
Despite her impressive size, Pancake isn't searching for a household that wants to run marathons or spend every waking hour on the move. While she enjoys getting out and about, she's equally content curling up on the couch, stretching out in a sunny spot, or snoozing the afternoon away until it's time for dinner. In Pancake's opinion, life is all about balance.
Pancake is looking for a family who will appreciate her loving nature, welcome her oversized cuddles, and provide a comfy place for her to relax at the end of the day. If you've been dreaming of a gentle companion with a huge heart and an even bigger talent for couch-snuggling, Pancake may just be the perfect addition to your home. 🐾❤️

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
